Welcome on the Bourges
gliding website
Dear glider's pilot
Are you looking for an airfield where you can do the following :
The Bourges flying-club is the one.
In one of the most favourable areas for gliding in Europe, the Bourges flying-club is close... very close to the city of Bourges as may be seen see on the photo. So you can go shopping riding your bike. Your glider may be sheltered inside the Club’s hangar (prerequest is desirable).
The magnificent countryside around Bourges is paved with castles, museums,
restaurants and vineyards such as the Sancerre, Ménetou, Reuilly, Quincy
. There are plenty of opportunities can when the weather is not good enough
for gliding.

Where is Bourges ?
Have a look at the photo :

The aeronautic situation :

"A Delta airspace ? No way ! Don't even think of it !"
"Wait a minute ! I'll make you change your mind ! Just listen..."
Yes, here is a D-Class, but it isn’t a “conventional” D-Class
airspace. It’s something like a “Bourges glider-Class airspace”.
Let me explain; it’s very easy to understand.
After take off just call Avord on 119.7 and declare : “ This is glider
X-XXXX based in Bourges, I just took off from Bourges and I am flying to Gien
(for instance)”. Avord approach will then reply: “ Glider X-XXXX,
you are cleared to proceed, call again when living the Delta airspace”.
That is the way a “Bourges glider-Class” is handled by Avord Traffic
Control 100% of the time. Avord Approach approves clearance to fly anywhere
in the Delta airspace except overflying the Air Force Base.
So don’t worry, be happy and come visit us.
Fees :
*For those requiring to be towed..
